Read an employee wellness dashboard without losing the human picture
Track participation, follow-through and location trends responsibly. Learn what an employee wellness dashboard can show—and what its numbers cannot prove.

An employee wellness dashboard can help HR notice where a programme is reaching people and where support is missing. Its value depends on the questions behind the tiles. A polished chart is not proof of effectiveness, and an aggregate view does not automatically guarantee anonymity.
Start with a defined question
Choose metrics that support a programme decision: Are invitations reaching every shift? Can employees attend? Is there a clear follow-up pathway? Agree the definition, denominator and reporting period for each measure before comparing locations.
- Reach: employees invited compared with the eligible workforce.
- Participation: attendees or completed assessments, with a clearly defined denominator.
- Follow-through: programme-level progress on agreed next steps, without exposing individual clinical details.
Keep employee and employer views separate
Employees need access to their own information. HR generally needs programme-level reporting rather than named diagnoses or test results. Limit access according to purpose, explain how information is used and avoid sharing small-group breakdowns that could identify people.
Compare like with like
A plant with rotating shifts and a head office have different attendance barriers. Reporting periods, eligibility and programme scope must be comparable. Changes in who participated can alter a chart even when the underlying health picture has not changed.
Read sample metrics honestly
Illustrative example only: if 120 of 200 invited employees attend, participation is 60%. That does not show that 60% are healthy, that non-attendees are unhealthy or that the programme caused a medical improvement. Sample dashboards should carry their example label beside the numbers.
Turn observations into practical actions
Low attendance may call for different timing or clearer invitations. Employee feedback may suggest different session formats. Clinical trends require qualified interpretation and careful data handling; do not use wellness scores to rank employees or make employment decisions.
