Statutory and pre-employment medicals

Pre-Employment Medical Checkup and Statutory Medicals for Workers

A pre-employment medical checkup answers one question for HR: is this candidate fit for this specific job? A welder, a crane operator, a food handler and a software engineer need very different tests, and a generic package either misses real risks or wastes money.

Plan My Health runs role-based pre-employment and pre-placement medical examinations, periodic medical examinations (PME) for workers, and statutory medicals for hazardous processes. Candidates are booked at a partner centre near their PIN code or examined onsite, and HR receives a clear fitness opinion.

Who needs pre-employment and pre-placement medical examinations

Manufacturing, chemical, pharma, construction, logistics, hospitality and food businesses, as well as offices that want a baseline health record for every new joiner. Contractors and labour agencies supplying workers to plants also use us to meet their principal employer's requirements.

Tests by job role and hazard

  • Hazardous process workers: audiometry, spirometry (PFT), chest X-ray, vision and colour vision, plus process-specific blood tests
  • Work at height and confined space: height pass fitness, blood pressure, blood sugar, vision, vertigo and balance checks
  • Drivers and crane or forklift operators: vision, colour vision, hearing, reflexes and ECG where indicated
  • Food handlers: physical examination and tests supporting the FSSAI medical fitness requirement
  • Contract and construction workers, including BOCW workers: basic fitness, vitals and communicable disease screening
  • Office roles: baseline vitals, blood sugar, lipids and vision

Form 32, Form 33 and the health register

Many state factory rules prescribe a health register (commonly Form 32) and a certificate of fitness (commonly Form 33) for workers in hazardous processes, issued or countersigned by a certifying surgeon where required. Form numbers and formats differ by state. We prepare examinations and records in the format your state prescribes and coordinate with certifying surgeons where the rules call for them.

Legal references on this page are general guidance. Exact requirements depend on your state factory rules, the processes you run and your headcount, so we confirm the applicable rules for each site before we propose a scope.

Periodic medical examination (PME) and annual statutory medicals

Pre-employment is only the start. Workers exposed to noise, dust, chemicals or heat usually need periodic examinations at intervals set by the state rules. We schedule PMEs automatically, remind workers and supervisors, and flag overdue examinations to EHS so nothing lapses before an inspection.

How we work with your HR and EHS team

Every engagement starts with a short scoping call and, for plants, a site walk-through. We map headcount by shift, the processes and hazards on site, the statutory registers you already keep and the gaps an inspector or auditor is likely to find. You then receive a written proposal with scope, staffing, timelines and a per-employee or monthly price — no bundled extras you did not ask for.

  • Scoping call and site or office assessment
  • Written proposal with scope, deliverables and pricing
  • Mobilisation of doctors, nurses, technicians or trainers
  • Delivery with digital records in the Plan My Health platform
  • Monthly or quarterly review with HR, EHS and plant leadership

What you receive: reports, registers and dashboards

Employees get their own confidential digital health record, reports and follow-up advice on their phone. HR and EHS leaders get an anonymised company dashboard showing participation, risk trends and pending follow-ups, plus exportable registers for audits. Individual medical details are shared with the employer only where the law requires it (for example a fitness opinion) or where the employee has consented, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Frequently asked questions

How fast do we get the fitness opinion?

Most routine pre-employment results are ready within one to two working days after the tests; imaging-heavy panels can take longer. The proposal lists turnaround by package.

Can candidates get tested near their home?

Yes. Candidates can be booked at a partner diagnostic centre by PIN code, or examined at an onsite camp for bulk hiring.

Do you issue a medical fitness certificate for employment?

Our doctors record a fit, fit with restrictions, or unfit opinion for the specific role. Where your state requires a certifying surgeon, we coordinate that step.

Will HR see individual employees' medical reports?

No. Employees see their own reports. HR sees anonymised, aggregated data plus the fitness opinions the law requires for specific roles. Anything beyond that is shared only with the employee's consent.
