Digital OHC

Digital Occupational Health Centre: Online OHC with Virtual Fitness Certificates

Not every site can justify a full-time physical OHC — warehouses, smaller plants, offices, project sites and night shifts still need a doctor, statutory medicals and fitness certificates. A Digital OHC brings the occupational health centre online.

Plan My Health's Digital OHC gives your workforce video consultations with MBBS and AFIH-qualified occupational health doctors, virtual fitness assessments over video, and digitally signed and stamped fitness certificates — with every record stored in the same audit-ready digital registers as a physical OHC.

How the Digital OHC works

  • Video consultations with MBBS and AFIH-qualified occupational health doctors from a site kiosk, the nurse's tablet or the employee's phone
  • Connected vitals capture — BP, SpO2, temperature, weight and blood sugar from digital devices at the site, or recorded by an onsite nurse
  • Digital OPD, injury and health registers identical to a physical OHC, with audit-ready exports
  • E-prescriptions and referral letters issued by the consulting doctor
  • Escalation pathway to a physical OHC, partner hospital or onsite camp when hands-on examination is needed

Virtual fitness certificates, signed and stamped online

For pre-employment, periodic and return-to-work fitness, the worker joins a scheduled video fitness assessment. The doctor verifies identity, reviews vitals and test results captured onsite or at a partner centre, takes history and conducts the visual and functional checks possible over video. The fitness certificate — fit, fit with restrictions or unfit for the specific role — is then digitally signed and stamped by the MBBS or AFIH doctor and stored against the employee's record for inspections.

Where state rules or the examination genuinely require physical tests — audiometry, spirometry, chest X-ray or a hands-on examination — the worker completes them at a partner diagnostic centre near their PIN code, and the results merge into the same certificate workflow. We tell you upfront which certificates can be fully virtual and which need a physical step for your state and process.

Legal references on this page are general guidance. Exact requirements depend on your state factory rules, the processes you run and your headcount, so we confirm the applicable rules for each site before we propose a scope.

Who the Digital OHC suits

  • Warehouses, logistics parks and distribution centres without a full-time clinic
  • Small and mid-size factories below the ambulance-room headcount that still want doctor cover
  • Construction and infrastructure project sites that move every few months
  • Night shifts and weekends, when a visiting doctor is impractical
  • Corporate offices that want an onsite-clinic experience without building one
  • Hybrid models: physical OHC at the main plant, Digital OHC for satellite sites

Doctors behind the screen

Every consultation and certificate is handled by a registered MBBS doctor, and occupational health assessments by AFIH-qualified doctors — the same qualification standard as our physical OHC staffing. Consultations follow telemedicine practice guidelines, and anything that cannot be responsibly assessed over video is escalated to a physical examination.

How we work with your HR and EHS team

Every engagement starts with a short scoping call and, for plants, a site walk-through. We map headcount by shift, the processes and hazards on site, the statutory registers you already keep and the gaps an inspector or auditor is likely to find. You then receive a written proposal with scope, staffing, timelines and a per-employee or monthly price — no bundled extras you did not ask for.

  • Scoping call and site or office assessment
  • Written proposal with scope, deliverables and pricing
  • Mobilisation of doctors, nurses, technicians or trainers
  • Delivery with digital records in the Plan My Health platform
  • Monthly or quarterly review with HR, EHS and plant leadership

What you receive: reports, registers and dashboards

Employees get their own confidential digital health record, reports and follow-up advice on their phone. HR and EHS leaders get an anonymised company dashboard showing participation, risk trends and pending follow-ups, plus exportable registers for audits. Individual medical details are shared with the employer only where the law requires it (for example a fitness opinion) or where the employee has consented, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Frequently asked questions

Is a virtual fitness certificate legally valid?

Telemedicine consultations follow Indian telemedicine practice guidelines, and the certificate is digitally signed by a registered doctor. Some statutory examinations and states require physical tests or a certifying surgeon — we map your exact requirement during scoping and combine virtual and physical steps accordingly.

What if the worker has no smartphone?

Most sites use a kiosk or the nurse's tablet at the site. Workers can also join from any basic phone with a camera.

Can the Digital OHC cover night shifts?

Yes. Duty doctors are rostered to match your shift pattern, including nights and weekends.

Do we still need a physical OHC?

That depends on your headcount, processes and state rules. Many clients run a hybrid: a physical OHC at the main plant and Digital OHC cover everywhere else.

Will HR see individual employees' medical reports?

No. Employees see their own reports. HR sees anonymised, aggregated data plus the fitness opinions the law requires for specific roles. Anything beyond that is shared only with the employee's consent.
