Why every employer needs a health risk assessment — and why ours is free to start

Most workplace illness does not arrive suddenly. Diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver and heart disease build quietly for years while an employee still feels fine. A health risk assessment (HRA) is the cheapest way to see that build-up early, because it reads lifestyle, diet, vitals and mental wellbeing together instead of waiting for one abnormal lab value.

The value is in the future view. An HRA does not only say 'this person is high risk today' — it shows the direction of travel: the 32-year-old with rising weight, poor sleep and family history of diabetes is a far more urgent case than the number on today's report suggests. Acting at that point usually means diet, movement and follow-up screening. Acting five years later usually means medication for life.

Timing is everything. Risk that is caught in the pre-disease window is largely reversible; the same risk caught after diagnosis becomes lifelong management, insurance claims and lost workdays. That is why leading employers now run an HRA before the annual checkup — so the checkup is targeted at the people and tests that matter, instead of being the same panel for everybody.

Our HRA on corporatehealth.in is designed to remove every excuse not to start. It is free for employees to complete, takes about five minutes on a phone, and adapts its questions to age, gender and job profile. Scoring uses Indian clinical norms — including Asian-Indian BMI and waist cut-offs — so the flagged population reflects Indian bodies, not a Western average.

Each employee gets a plain-language report with a risk score and a 90-day action plan they can actually follow. HR gets an anonymised dashboard: risk bands, participation, and which risks cluster in which departments or age groups — never individual medical details.

The assessment is also the entry point to everything else: an abnormal finding can be routed straight into a teleconsultation, a diet plan, an onsite checkup or a home visit, and re-tested after 90 days so you can count risks actually reversed.

If you are starting a wellness programme this year, start here. Run the free assessment across your workforce, read the risk picture, then spend your budget where the data points — instead of guessing.

Plan My Health delivers health risk assessment for employees, HRA for insurers and brokers and corporate health checkup packages for companies across India — talk to our corporate health team for a proposal matched to your workforce.
