First aid boxes, trained first aiders per shift, CPR and AED skills, and refresher cycles for Indian workplaces.

First aid is one of the oldest workplace health duties in Indian law and one of the most commonly neglected in practice.
What the rules cover
The Factories Act, 1948 and state rules require first aid boxes in proportion to the workers employed and trained first aiders available during working hours. Other workplaces follow the rules of their own sector and state, and many adopt the same standard as good practice.
What first aiders should be able to do
- Assess a casualty and call for help
- Perform CPR and use an AED
- Control bleeding and manage burns and fractures
- Handle choking, fainting, seizures and heat illness
Refreshers and drills
Skills fade quickly. Plan refreshers and run emergency drills so first aiders practise with your actual layout and ambulance arrangements.
